In the last few weeks I have started hearing a term I had never heard before: The Layette List. Looking this up on various internet sites, there are several ideas of what this is. The dictionary definition of layette is: A set of clothing, linens, and sometimes toiletries for a newborn child. In my case this will be a list of items I think we need before we bring the baby home. Then after the baby is born, I will modify this post with what we actually needed.
For clothing items, I will leave off quantity, since it seems to me quantity of clothing items required is proportional to the days in between wash loads.
- Swaddling Cloths
- Clothes to Wear to Church
- Changing Table
- Chair in Nursery
- Car Seat/Baby Carrier
- Feeding Supplies
- Bathing Supplies
There are probably some items missing from my list, but that is ok; we actually have quite a bit more than what I listed here. It will be interesting to see after the baby is born how close I was to including items that we actually need.
